The Last Blush of Winter
You can't tell from looking at the "Original" photo, above, but, in the middle of a rare winter storm, this last Hibiscus of the season was completely encased in ice.
To honor its unexpectedly frosty demise, I've created an image that will, eventually, be transferred and kiln-fired onto a 6"x6" ceramic tile.
At least, that's the plan.

COOL! I tried to post yesterday, but Blogger was having PMS. I really like this and I think a tile would be magnificent! YAY!!
ReplyDeleteThe tile design is beautiful.
ReplyDeletethis is gorgeous, reminds me of a beautiful embroidery.
ReplyDeleteLovely idea for a tile, bit out of the ordinary. Just as a matter of interest, how many are you going to fire? They would look unusual framed, but with some sort of abstract border between the frame and the tile (got some Greek fired tiles at home in similar frames).
ReplyDeleteHi WJ, this is simply lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pinky! Blogger does have its moments. I just keep reminding myself that it's free!
ReplyDeleteHi, Nancy, I did a few different versions, but this was my fave.
ReplyDeleteThanks, JB! It's been years since I did any embroidery, but I've always loved it.
ReplyDeleteHi, John,
ReplyDeleteYou know, "a bit out of the ordinary" is my middle name! I won't be firing them, I'll leave that to the pros; but, I was thinking of having just a few done, for starters, to try at my next show.
I'd thought of a sort of leafy border, but I like the abstract idea, which sounds a little "edgier". I'll see what I can come up with.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Thanks, Fenn!
ReplyDeleteLove the tile design! It does have sort of a fabric feel to it.
ReplyDeleteoooh what a lovely tile you made from that frozen flower W.J.! I had some flowers out on the deck one time and an ice storm froze them into the prettiest sparkling ice flowers.
ReplyDeleteI could see a row of these as a border on a wall, oh it would be so beautiful!
wow it's very a beautiful, may me have one your image,...
