The backstory ~
A few days ago, Cynthia posted a gorgeous painting of a sunflower.
Her painting reminded me of some old childhood memories which I'd planned to spill, here, 'en blog'. On second thought, I've decided to keep the memories to myself; but I'm happy to show you what happens when I direct my mind toward a sunflower (liberated from a neighbor's yard), a scanner, and Photoshop.

Local weatherman, Maclovio Perez, just said, " . . . as for the weekend, you should either plan to stay indoors or underwater."
" . . . "
Why does Mother Nature despise me?
Have an amazing weekend!

pretty pretty! it's ugly here, too- the tempuratures aren't miserable, the humidity takes your breath away. stay inside, go to the movies- it's always cool at the movies!!! have a great weekend-
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog. Yes, I totally agree that if I stop blogging, I'll miss my friends met here.
ReplyDeleteI love these works, my favourite is the 1st one. Indeed, the first thing comes across my mind is Cynthia's painting of sunflower.
Have a nice weekend!
I know what you mean about spilling one's guts out in cyber-space. I try to sensor myself because I could end up divulging all kinds of things. My mother and husband read my blog regularly, so I do keep a lot to myself! : )
ReplyDeleteI love the digital renditions of the sunflower. My initial reaction was #1, but then I like 2 and 3 as well. #2 because it's so abstract and if it weren't shown along side #1 and 3, I wouldn't recognize it as a sunflower. Maybe I would, but now I'm already swayed.
oh my did you do a super job with these, the second one is a fabulous abstraction of the sunflower. It sort of looks like quilt with an turkish (nazar bonjuk) evil eye in the center. really lovely.
ReplyDeleteUg, dog days of summer. wish I were living by the seaside :( on days like this.
hope you have a super weekend too.
I cannot wait until my youngest goes to school. All you artists have inspried me to get back into it again. the only thing is I need at least three hours to do something creative that is why I am waiitng for school to start. Looks like the house will never get clean!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics!
oh how beautiful and striking...my fav is the top one and the third comes in close second...the yellow is just wow...
ReplyDeleteI love those pictures. I even know what they are. I'm staying indoors with the air turned on.
ReplyDeleteI called the pictres radiant sunflowers. They are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOn days like this, you should stay inside and paint water! :-) Nice job on the sunflowers. Think I like the 3rd one the best.
ReplyDeleteUpper 90's coming our way next week. Yuck. Still havent gotten the AC fixed on my van. Guess I will be staying home.
It's actually hot and sunny here!
ReplyDeleteCan you believe it?
No, I can't either.
Sunflowers are one of my favourites, such happy, bright, sunshine flowers.

WJ, a question:
ReplyDeleteas we were driving around South St Louis the other day, and I saw great things to photograph, I wondered something about you. you always have cool pics of things you probably found driving around. Do you have a driving partner? though Darin would do it, I never have him stop for a picture. but I don't want to be driving around south st louis alone, either, with $1200 of camera around my neck. Alone would be easier - no explaining to anyone. anyway, just was thinking about you-
W.J. you make such magical gorgeous beauty in your images and these sunflowers are no exception! Like jan I immediately liked the 3rd one best but they're all gorgeous! Good grief it must be hot as blazes everywhere. This morn the weatherman said it was going to be 105 here but I think it only got to 99!
