Coming soon to Art166.com or my "Small Works" Etsy shop!

Thursday? Already?

I had such high hopes for this week's adventures in blogging. That is, until I realized that in two days I'm swapping out a dozen pieces in my local "real world" exhibit. Also, I've signed up for two Arts & Craft fairs within the next 30 days. I can't help myself!

So, instead of blogging, surfing, and indulging in my other low-stress Internet activities, I'm printing, cutting, matting, framing, designing and assembling my heart out!

The good news? (There always has to be good news --) The last time I was in such a creative frenzy, back in early September, the temperature in my studio/kitchen hovered at 100 degrees F and higher. Today, that room will measure a moderate 76-82 degrees. That's far from my preferred 65-70 degree comfort zone, but a world away from the sweltering, endless misery of the last six months. Whew!

I'll pop in here as time permits (I can only stay away so long), and should be on a more regular posting schedule by the end of November. I'm working on some great, unusual (of course!) pieces for the upcoming fairs. I'll show some of them off as they're completed.

I'm offering 8"x10", 5"x7", 2.5" x 3.5" (ACEOs) and smaller, art prints for sale at the fairs (one of which will be held on a college campus). I'm open to suggestions as to which of my pieces (Art166.com) you think would be most appealing in these small sizes.

The dates for these fairs are November 10th & 20th and I'm hoping for nice, cool weather. We certainly don't have to worry about unexpected snowfall, but that would be so amazing!

Thanks, as always, for your great comments on my last couple of posts. "Beyond" is particularly unusual, and it was great to see it so appreciated. I'm exhibiting it in Timo's Coffeehouse as of Saturday morning!

Now, I'm going back to work before I get too comfy on this couch. Later, guys!

Good luck with the fairs, exhibits, and everything else you've got planned. As always love the images, I think the first one is my favourite this time.

  5. Thanks so much, Chana. I don't have much family to speak of, but my art has yet to let me down!

  6. Thanks, Dr. John! If only my energy level could be as high as my creativity level. Perhaps it's time to hire an apprentice!

I grew up in Milwaukee and still miss the cold. I'd love to share some of your weather!

  7. Ah, Sandy, you're a poet, and you know it! Thanks for the "luck"!

I love that first image too, but I'm having a heck of a time getting the 'silvery gleam' translated to the printed page. Kodak makes a great metallic photo paper. Think I'll try that.

  9. More wonderful work WJ! I'm excited to hear about all your creative ventures. You must be crazy busy right now, but in a good way.
I'm also excited to see some of your work in a small format like aceos. Will you be posting those for sale online, or just selling them at the fairs?
Thanks so much for your thoughtful coments on my blog!

  10. W.J. I think every single one of your gorgeous works would work so well as an ACEO and like Cyn I'm also wondering if you're gonna sell some on-line too. ACEOs seem to be selling really well right now! You have been busy busy busy!! I've been a little burned out here lately but hope to do some painting this weekend and get the creative juices flowing again.

  13. Hope the art and craft fairs are profitable for you, but don't forget to leave some 'me' time for yourself.

Really, like your latest creations. Keep 'em coming.

Temperatures are dropping in the UK, though still higher than I remember when I was a bairn (12 celsius). I've had my heating on for several weeks now.

  14. Thanks, Cynthia! Busy is as busy does . . .

Yep, the ACEO's and other small pieces will be offered through Yessy (in sets) and in my Etsy shop (which will re-open next week). Have you heard that Etsy V2 is supposed to launch next Monday!

Yesterday, I opened a new, "Smaller" Works gallery at Art166.com. 8x10s and smaller will be offered there. I'll be adding pieces to it during the next week or so. (I'm blogging about this later in the week, so -- shhh!)

  15. Hi, Lynette! I'm finally leaping into the ACEO pool and will offer them through Yessy and Etsy.

I don't often burn out (I call it "hyper-creative brain chemistry" lol) but, man, do I get tired! I'm planning a little down-time from Christmas Eve 'til about January 3rd. It's not a real vacation, just a chance to work on a bunch of new art to start off the new year. Time will tell how that works out!

  18. Hi, John, I have way too much ME time, usually. I love having some big projects to work on!

You're right, it's warmer everywhere, I think. My air conditioner hasn't been turned off since the third week of March and it's sunny and too-warm, here. The temp drops to "close to cool" for a few hours around sunrise, then it's back to summer. If I sound sick of warm, sunny days, it's because -- I am!
