Submitted for your consideration: Achromatic Landscapes -- A day without color.

Why? I've been watching a lot of old "The Twilight Zone" episodes. Go figure.

I'll have a keyboard, tomorrow! Yay!

Thanks for commenting!

  1. I love your deserted road landscape photographs! They have an other-worldly quality. I can see the Twilight analogy coming through loud and clear.

These images are some of my favorites...I am a big fan of the old Twilight Zone. You have managed to send me there in color as well...I am saving for a particular image I want to buy. I have ten more articles to write and I can get it.

You are giving me inspiration to write;)

  6. There's a feeling I get with these, that all I have to do is lift the shade from my eyes and everything will be in colour again. Like you know what it looks like in colour and the black and white is only temporary. And I could take out my ear plugs and hear once more the sound of the wind in the trees, birds, life.

Eugh, it's hard to explain what I mean. A snapshot in time. Your vision shown. But I can see beyond that. Oh I don't know, I'm blabbering now. Giving up!

  7. Hi, Cynthia!

Thanks for your comments on my "road" photos! Every time I take one, I wonder if I've taken one too many. But, so far, I'm crazy about every one, and viewers respond to them with real emotion -- which I LOVE!

    Thanks, again!

    P. S. I'm about done with the manips of your Little Photographer's airplane photo. Yes, I said "manips" (plural). I should have realized the impossibility of stopping at just one! (Also, working on this has given me an idea for a new business venture -- maybe!)

  8. Thanks, Chana! This is me -- typing! Have a great weekend!

  9. Lynette!

I love that you love these! When I spotted that tree perched up on a rise, I felt as if it were just waiting for me. Luckily, the multiple color versions work really well, too (not to mention the version I did of it immersed in flames!) -- maybe I'll post one of them next week.

I never get tired of watching "The Twilight Zone", and I always walk away in a frenzy of inspiration!

Rod Serling -- just one of the brilliantly amazing men I meant to marry!

Then, my work here is done!

I love your comments on these -- I've always existed a tad outside "the norm", and considered that a very positive thing. I'm thrilled to know my art conveys that. It took 'blogging' for me to really understand that other people (like yourself, for instance!) were willing to join me on the occasional trip "out there".

Like Mr. Shakespeare said, "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

Given a choice, I'll always be seeking out those "more things" and finding a way to put them to paper!

  13. Thanks, Snoo!!

    Brilliant, poetic blabbering, as always!

If you insist on leaving such wonderfully profound and favorable comments, I must insist that you Babble On! I was certain you'd understand these -- and you do!

  14. Thank you, Jafa, the socks-less Brit!

I greatly appreciate your enthusiastic appreciation, and, I'm honored to be mentioned alongside Miss Snoo's dreamy photos!

  15. WJS, I'm so pleased you posted these very atmospheric b&w images. Have they been manipulated, they have an other worldly feel about them, especially the tree/sky shot? Beautifully haunting.

Wonderful b&w images W.J. especially the road.

  17. Thanks, John, I'm very pleased to share them with you!

Yes, they're heavily manipulated, as they were, originally, color photos. I was working with that second photo, trying to get a faux 'infra-red' look. (I've, since, lost my sequence of steps and have been trying to duplicate them. Aargh!) I was so intrigued with some of the black & white effects that I found along the way, I ended up working with b & W for several days. Great fun, and very satisfying results!

Your beautiful comments on these are very much appreciated!

  18. Hi, Sandy, and thank you kindly! As you can probably tell, I LOVE taking road pictures!

  19. WJ I am so glad that I made you laugh during a sneeze... I'm still snickering.

I am a huge TZ Fan Huge and this top photo looks like it belongs in the episode " I Shot an Arrow into the Air". That is one of my all time favs with the most classical twilight twist.

ps I think my nasty whispers are hiding along this road and need to be left in the dust where they belong!

    R;)
